Even though the collapse of comets is quite unusual, it has been observed repeatedly in the past: for example, with Comet Linear in 1976 or with Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9, which crashed into Jupiter in 1994. However it was impossible to see so many details at these events as is possible now - at the unexpected break-up of KOMET BERLIN (Comet Berlin).

This one is bright enough even to be seen with the naked eye, so anyone who is interested has the opportunity to track the end of KOMET BERLIN. Experts estimate that it will disappear by the end of this year, so whoever wants to observe this tail star needs to hurry.

Unlike so many other comets, KOMET BERLIN does not dissolve into an amorphous nebula of gas and dust. It will split into many bright and shapely fragments. Such sights are always spectacular and beautiful to view.

The group show "LAST CALL" provides the last opportunity to have a look at works by all eight artists of the KOMET BERLIN Galerie. This artist's co-op closes at the end of this year, following two solo exhibitions: one with works by Steffi Weigel (coming October 2009) and the other by Antka Hofmann (November 2009).
